Elyse M. Dreyer is Senior Vice President, Compliance Counsel & Director of CSR, Americas, at Sotheby’s.  Ms. Dreyer has served as a Compliance lawyer at Sotheby’s since 2008.  She is responsible for Sotheby’s corporate compliance program, including establishing standards, policies and procedures to reduce illegal, unethical and improper conduct, communicating and providing advice and counsel regarding these standards and procedures company-wide, investigating breaches and maintaining open communication with relevant government and regulatory bodies.  Ms. Dreyer advises her colleagues on a wide and ever-broadening variety of issues, including data protection and information security, anti-money laundering, authenticity and title, cultural heritage, auction practices, and endangered species, among many others.  Over the past 8 years, Sotheby’s presence and activities online have grown dramatically, and Ms. Dreyer has been a key participant in virtually every step of Sotheby’s engagement online, including the introduction of online bidding, their forays into e-commerce, their evolving practices related to online marketing and collection of information and crafting of Sotheby’s new Privacy Policy and Cookies Policy. Ms. Dreyer also created and manages Sotheby’s Corporate Social Responsibility and Employee Engagement program. 

 Prior to joining Sotheby’s, Ms. Dreyer was an associate at Debevoise & Plimpton, with a practice focusing on international arbitration, complex domestic litigation and international and internal investigations arising from regulatory enquiries.  She also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Allyne R. Ross in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.  Ms. Dreyer received her J.D. from Columbia Law School and a B.S. from The Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.  Ms. Dreyer is a Member of the Board of Urban Arts Partnership, a non-profit organization bringing arts-integrated curriculum into underserved New York Public Schools to help close the achievement gap.  She has also served on the New York City Bar Association’s Art Law Committee and the Harlem RBI All-Star Committee.
