Libby Kitslaar is a Partner and heads the M&A practice in the Chicago office of Jones Day.

Libby has been the principal lawyer in a wide variety of U.S. and international M&A and corporate transactions, including complex acquisitions and divestitures, carve-outs, restructurings, public offerings, and joint ventures. In addition to her transactional work, Libby advises boards of directors, special committees, and investors on a broad range of corporate governance and compliance matters, including federal securities and listing requirements, executive compensation, fiduciary duty, takeover preparedness, and disclosure and trading policy.

Libby has been recognized as a leading lawyer by numerous industry publications, including The Legal 500 and Chambers USA, which describes her as an “outstanding negotiator” providing “practical commercial advice” and “easy to do business with.”  In both 2012 and 2015, BTI Consulting Group named her a “Client Service All Star” for providing outstanding client service.

  • Norbert Dentressangle on its acquisition of Jacobson Companies for $750 million
  • Veolia Environnement on its sale of U.S. solid waste business to Star Atlantic Waste for $1.9 billion
  • Woodward Inc. on its acquisition of the hydraulic thrust reverse actuation systems business of GE Aviation Systems for $200 million
  • Abbott Laboratories on its $6.9 billion acquisition of BASF’s worldwide pharmaceutical business and its $2.8 billion cash tender offer for Advanced Medical Optics
  • Bridgestone Corporation on its $1.05 billion merger with Bandag
  • Duchossois Industries on its acquisition of Milestone AV Technologies and its $315 million cash tender offer to acquire AMX Corporation
  • Galileo International on its $3.2 billion merger with Cendant Corp.
  • JohnsonDiversey on its $2.6 billion recapitalization and on its $1.6 billion acquisition of Unilever’s worldwide institutional cleaning business
