Dwayne Allen Thomas is the Senior Court Attorney to Hon. Cenceria Edwards, New York Civil Court, Kings County. He is also a writer and speaker, applying research to social issues. His master’s thesis, Channeling the River, combines anthropology, law, history, psychology, positive psychology, and data science to propose a strategy for increasing the pass rate of African-American bar examinees.

Dwayne holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Bernard M. Baruch College, a Master of Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School. He is a member of the American Bar Association, sits on the New York City Bar Association’s Diversity Pipeline Initiatives Committee, and is a member of the International Positive Psychology Association.

Dwayne has won several awards for his work, including the Elected Student Commencement Speaker (BLS, 2013), 3L of the Year (BLS Black Law Students Association, 2013), the SBA President’s Award for Public Service (BLS, 2013), Alumnus of the Year (BLS BLSA, 2014) and the Chris Peterson Memorial Fellowship (2015, Penn).
