David W. Tollen is the author of the American Bar Association’s bestseller, THE TECH CONTRACTS HANDBOOK: Cloud Computing Agreements, Software Licenses, and Other IT Contracts for Lawyers and Businesspeople, 2nd Edition (ABA Publishing, IP Section 2015).

David provides in-house and public trainings on drafting and negotiating technology contracts, for lawyers and for contract managers, salespeople, financial executives, and other businesspeople. He’s also the founder of TechContracts.com, a portal on IT contracts, providing free form contracts, sample language, articles, and more. The portal is also the information site for David’s trainings. (www.TechContracts.com.)

In addition, David is the founder of Sycamore Legal, P.C., a technology and intellectual property law firm based in San Francisco (www.SycamoreLegal.com). He represents buyers and sellers in cloud computing and software license agreements, data license agreements, and other technology transactions. He also provides advice and assistance related to data protection and privacy, e-commerce, social media, industrial design, and intellectual property.

David graduated with honors from Harvard Law School and has degrees from Cambridge University in England and U.C. Berkeley. Before starting his own firm, he served as general counsel of a publicly traded software company, as vice president of business development for a technology start-up, and as a lawyer with Morrison & Foerster LLP.
