David W. Barr

David is partner in KPMG’s Professional Practice Group in New York where he is responsible for technical consultations on the accounting for revenue recognition, leasing, business combinations and income taxes.  David recently returned to KPMG from the Securities and Exchange Commission, where he was a Professional Accounting Fellow in the Office of the Chief Accountant (OCA) for two years.  While at the SEC, David served as the functional lead of the revenue recognition topic team and as a member of the business combinations, leasing, long-lived assets and income taxes topic teams, and in that capacity was responsible for helping to develop and communicate SEC staff views in these areas.  In his role as functional lead of the revenue recognition topic team, David helped facilitate the SEC staff review and comment process for the “fatal flaw” drafts of the FASB/IASB revenue recognition standard issued in May 2014 (ASC 606).  David has an undergraduate degree from Bucknell University.
