David C. Layden is a member of the firm’s Complex Commercial Litigation, Privacy and Information Governance, and Bankruptcy Litigation Practices. Mr. Layden joined Jenner & Block in 1997, and became a partner in 2000. He is a member of the firm’s Hiring Committee and Associate Development and Evaluation Committee.

Mr. Layden represents and counsels companies and individuals in connection with complex business disputes and risks. Mr. Layden has litigated matters in federal and state courts and in arbitration forums throughout the United States. Mr. Layden has extensive experience in, among other things, matters involving complex business and financial transactions and disputes, class actions, banks and financial services firms, and bankruptcy proceedings.

Mr. Layden also has substantial experience counseling clients regarding Telephone Consumer Protection Act-related risks and the avoidance of those risks.

Mr. Layden maintains an active pro bono practice. Among other cases, he recently argued before the Seventh Circuit on behalf of a client who was alleging violations of his consular notification rights under Article 36 of the Vienna Convention.

Mr. Layden is 1990 graduate of Washington University in St. Louis (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa), and a 1993 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School (cum laude).
