David A. Lipkin

David A. Lipkin is a senior partner in the Mergers & Acquisitions practice group and a member of the Cooley Business Department. He joined the Firm in 1999 and is resident in the Palo Alto office.

Mr. Lipkin practices primarily in the mergers & acquisitions area, where he represents both public and private companies, with a focus on companies in the high-tech and biotechnology areas. Mr. Lipkin also handles general corporate, partnership and securities matters for clients of the firm, and serves as an active member of the Firm's technology committee.

Prior to joining Cooley, Mr. Lipkin spent several years with Talegen Holdings in Seattle, where he helped arrange and negotiate the disposition by Xerox Corporation of its remaining financial services businesses valued at over $3 billion. He also served as Talegen's Chief Information Officer. Prior to joining Talegen, Mr. Lipkin was a partner in the corporate department of Pettit & Martin in San Francisco, where he practiced for twelve years.

Mr. Lipkin received his J.D. from the University of Michigan School of Law, where he graduated cum laude in 1981 and was elected to Order of the Coif. He completed his undergraduate education at Cornell University in 1978, receiving a Bachelor's degree in Economics.

Mr. Lipkin is a member of the State Bar of California and the American Bar Association, as well as the Committee on Mergers & Acquisitions of the ABA's Business Law Section.
