Darshika Kothari is a senior partner at AZB & Partners, Mumbai. Darshika began her career at the Chambers of Zia Mody in 1999, as one of the first few lawyers that started out with Zia Mody in her corporate practice, and has been working with the Firm since. Currently, a senior partner with AZB & Partners, Darshika has over 18 years of experience in advising clients across various practice areas, with a focus on mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures, private equity and corporate, regulatory and securities laws. 

Darshika has spearheaded several large transactions, advising marquee private equity clients as well leading international and Indian corporations, institutional and sovereign wealth funds with regard to various legal and regulatory aspects. She has been involved in structuring investments, formulating entry and exit strategies, governance issues to advising on public takeover offers and regulatory and risk management issues. Further, Darshika has significant experience in advising the Firm’s clients in a variety of industries including manufacturing and business services, retail, e-commerce, pharma, healthcare and financial services. Darshika also often participates in several legal reforms committees and policy initiatives.

Darshika has consistently been rated as a ‘leading lawyer’ in the M&A and PE space by Chambers & Partners, Legal500 and IFLR1000.

Her clients include the Tata group, KKR, the Richemont Group (including brands such as Mont Blanc, Cartier), Ontario Teachers Pension Plan, Kuoni, AEGON, TA Associates and Goldman Sachs.
