Darren Praznik

Shortly after graduating from Law School and being called to the Bar in 1986, Darren was appointed Special Assistant to Canada's National Minister of Health and Welfare. Two years later he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of his home province of Manitoba where he served for the next fourteen years holding various cabinet portfolios including Ministers of Labour, Energy and Mines, Northern & Aboriginal Affairs, Highways & Transportation and Government House Leader. He also served as Minister of Health from 1997 to 1999 where he was responsible for the province's health delivery system and a $2 billion budget.

In 2002 he left the Legislature to join the Executive Management Team of Canadian Blood Services, Canada's national supplier of blood and blood products, where he played an important role in the renewal of Canada's blood system that today enjoys the confidence of the public, health care providers and its funding governments.

In 2007, Darren joined the CCTFA as President & CEO where he has led the development and implementation of the CCTFA's strategic vision including building the Association's capacity to address the emerging environmental review of product ingredients and the management of growing pressure group attacks on the industry and product safety. Darren and the CCTFA have also been strong advocates for greater international cooperation and coordination within the personal care sector and work closely with other trade associations including Cosmetics Europe and the Personal Care Products Council in the United States.
