Darren J. Robbins is a founding partner in the Firm's San Diego office and a member of its Executive Committee. Mr. Robbins oversees the Firm's mergers and acquisitions practice and its institutional client outreach efforts. Mr. Robbins has served as lead counsel in more than one hundred securities-related actions and has obtained recoveries of more than $2 billion for injured shareholders.

One of the hallmarks of Mr. Robbins' practice has been his achievements in securing corporate governance reform in connection with shareholder litigation. These efforts are best exemplified by the settlements obtained in cases such as UnitedHealth and Hanover Compressor. In UnitedHealth, a securities fraud class action arising out of an options backdating scandal, Mr. Robbins represented lead plaintiff the California Public Employees' Retirement System and was able to obtain unprecedented corporate governance changes, the cancellation of more than 3.6 million stock options held by the Company's former CEO and a record $925 million cash recovery for shareholders. Similarly, in Hanover Compressor, Mr. Robbins obtained landmark corporate governance reforms in addition to a substantial recovery for shareholders.

Mr. Robbins was recognized in 2004 as Attorney of the Year by California Lawyer for his achievements in Hanover Compressor. In 2007, The American Lawyer recognized Mr. Robbins as one of the "Young Litigators 45 and Under" for his significant strides in the field of securities litigation. And, in 2008, the Daily Journal named Mr. Robbins as one of California's Top 100 Lawyers. 

Mr. Robbins received his J.D. degree from Vanderbilt Law School, where he served as the Managing Editor of the Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law. He received his B.S. and M.A. degrees in Economics from the University of Southern California.
