Daniel Wolf’s practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions where he represents public and private companies, as well as private equity firms, in a variety of domestic and international transactions. His transactional experience spans the range of M&A activity including many significant cross-border and contested transactions. He also counsels public company clients on governance, finance, securities and other general corporate matters.

Daniel has worked on some of the most significant transactions of the last decade. Daniel was instrumental in Cendant Corporation’s (now Avis Budget Group) separation into four companies through the spin-offs of its Realogy and Wyndham Worldwide divisions and the $4.3 billion sale of its Travelport division to the Blackstone Group. He has worked with some of the country’s largest pharmaceutical companies on their most important deals, including Bristol-Myers Squibb in its $4.3 billion sale to AstraZeneca of its interest in the companies’ diabetes alliance, its $7 billion acquisition of Amylin Pharmaceuticals and joint collaboration with AstraZeneca and its $2.5 billion acquisition of Inhibitex. Internationally, among others, Daniel has represented ABB Ltd, the Swiss conglomerate, in its $4.2 billion acquisition of Baldor Electric Company and $3.9 billion acquisition of Thomas & Betts Corporation, as well as Given Imaging Ltd. of Israel in its $1 billion sale to Covidien plc. On the private equity front, Daniel has represented Vista Equity Partners in several transactions including its $1.0 billion acquisition of Websense. Daniel’s work on many contested matters includes Baxalta in connection with Shire PLC’s $30 billion unsolicited acquisition proposal, Blackstone’s $26 billion topping bid for Dell and Avis Budget’s unsolicited bid for Dollar Thrifty.

In 2015, Daniel was listed in The International Who’s Who of Mergers & Acquisitions Lawyers for the second consecutive year and Chambers USA, a leading guide to lawyers and law firms, ranked him among the best Corporate/M&A attorneys in the country. The ranking marked Daniel’s fifth consecutive year appearing in Chambers USA and noted that Daniel is “a genius and a brilliant lawyer,” and “has a lot of knowledge and knows how to do it” when it comes to important M&A.

Daniel was recognized as one of the “Top 50: America's M&A Star Dealmakers 2013” by the Global M&A Network and in 2012, he was named an “M&A MVP” in Law360’s “MVPs of the Year” for his work on some of the year’s most high-profile and complex deals. Law360 also named him one of its five “Rising Stars” in M&A under the age of 40 in 2011. Daniel is also listed as a “New York Super Lawyer” by Super Lawyers magazine in 2013 - 2015.

Daniel is the leading contributing author of the Kirkland M&A Update, the Firm’s M&A thought leadership publication. Daniel’s content has been recognized by various academic and business publications, including The Wall Street Journal, The Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance and Financial Regulation, The New York Times’ Deal Professor, Investment Dealers’ Digest, Deal Lawyers, Practical Law Company (PLC) and Law360.

Daniel is a graduate of the London School of Economics, LL.B., 1995 first class honours.
