Daniel R. Alonso is currently the Chief Assistant District Attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, where he began his career following graduation from law school in 1990. Immediately before rejoining the DA's Office, Mr. Alonso was a litigation partner at Kaye Scholer, LLP, where he focused his practice on internal investigations, white-collar defense, and civil litigation. Prior to joining Kaye Scholer, Mr. Alonso was the Chief of the Criminal Division in the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York. In that capacity, he supervised approximately 110 federal prosecutors in the investigation and prosecution of a vast array of crimes, including securities fraud and other types of white-collar crime, organized crime, public corruption, narcotics trafficking, computer crimes, terrorism, and violent gangs.

Mr. Alonso, who served for nine years in the United States Attorney's Office, is a four-time recipient of the Justice Department's Director's Award for Superior Performance as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, and has received the Henry L. Stimson Medal, given by the Association of the Bar of the City of New York to outstanding Assistant U.S. Attorneys. Mr. Alonso's original tenure in the District Attorney's Office lasted five years, during which he handled matters of fraud, corruption, and street crime while assigned to the Frauds Bureau, the Special Prosecutions Bureau, and the Trial Division. From 1995-1996, he served as law clerk to Judge Joseph W. Bellacosa of the New York Court of Appeals.
 
In addition to other professional activities, Mr. Alonso is the immediate past Chair of the Criminal Justice Council of the New York City Bar Association and a member of the Advisory Group to the State-Federal Judicial Council.  During the 2001-2002 term at Brooklyn Law School, Mr. Alonso served as an adjunct professor and inaugural coordinator of Brooklyn's Federal Prosecution Clinic. He is also an active member of the Federal Bar Council. While at Kaye Scholer, he served, by appointment of the Governor of New York, as a member of the New York State Commission on Public Integrity.

Mr. Alonso is a graduate of Cornell University (B.A. 1987, with Distinction), and New York University School of Law (J.D. 1990).
