Dan Haley is athenahealth’s Senior Vice President, Chief Legal and Administrative Officer. Prior to his appointment to his present role in August 2017, Dan served the company for two years as General Counsel, and three years as Vice President of Government and Regulatory Affairs, and Assistant General Counsel. Before joining athenahealth, Dan was a partner at the the global law firm McDermott, Will & Emery, where his practice focused on government and regulatory affairs, health IT, and complex commercial litigation. He previously served in Massachusetts state government as Deputy Legal Counsel and then Deputy Chief of Staff to then-Governor Mitt Romney, and as Chief of Staff to Lieutenant Governor Kerry Healey. Early in his career, Dan practiced at Goodwin Procter in Boston. He is a frequent blogger, speaker, and commentator on health IT and related issues, and a member of the Board of Directors of the eHealth Initiative. He has held senior positions in a number of statewide political campaigns, in Massachusetts state government, and at several federal political committees. Dan received his bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College, and his law degree from Harvard Law School.­­
