ESTHER CHAVEZ currently serves as Senior Assistant Attorney General in the Consumer Protection Division of the Office of the Texas Attorney General where her work encompasses a broad range of consumer protection concerns with a focus on privacy and data security. Most recently, Ms. Chavez has represented the State of Texas in Texas Identity Theft Enforcement and Protection Act cases including In the Matter of the State of Texas and The Target Corporation.

Ms. Chavez’ current professional activities include service as Chair-elect of the Texas State Bar’s Consumer and Commercial Law Section Council. Most recently she has been a presenter at continuing legal education seminars including the American Health Lawyers Association Physicians and Hospital Law Institute, February 2018; the Practising Law Institute’s 18th Annual Institute on Privacy and Data Security; and the National Association of Attorneys General Training and Research Institute’s Complex Civil Litigation Seminar (Anatomy of Complex Civil Litigation).
