At Day Pitney, Cynthia Courtney is a member of the Commercial Litigation department who practices as Electronic Discovery Counsel to the firm. Prior to joining the firm, Cindy managed employee benefits and healthcare litigation for nearly 20 years, concentrating recently on complex commercial and class action litigation and e-discovery. In her prior position, Cindy worked closely with her company's IT area to create and implement document retention and e-discovery programs. She has managed large, multifaceted document collections involving the selection and oversight of several vendors. At Day Pitney, Cindy provides electronic discovery advice and support on existing litigation matters and advises clients regarding the creation of corporate document retention programs. Within the firm, she establishes best practices for document collection and production that comport with the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and the case law in the area of e-discovery. She provides training to lawyers and the litigation support staff and informs them of critical case law in this area and how to apply the latest principles to litigation matters. Cindy is a frequent speaker at e-discovery conferences, and has written a number of articles in this area.
