Craig Gibian is a principal in the Financial Instruments Group of the Washington National Tax Office of Deloitte Tax LLP.  Craig assists Deloitte’s clients in their efforts to evaluate complex financial transactions and utilize financial instruments in a tax-efficient manner.

Prior to joining Deloitte in 2013, Craig was a partner in the DC Office of a New York law firm and has over 20 years of experience in the area of the taxation of financial instruments.  His extensive work in the area covers the taxation of debt and derivatives, including in the context of mergers and acquisitions.

Craig is currently the vice-chair of the Financial Transactions Committee of the Tax Section of the American Bar Association and is the former chair of the Financial Products Committee of the DC Bar Taxation Section.  Craig received his bachelor’s degree from Princeton University and juris doctor from Harvard Law School.
