Fidel F. Del Valle is the Commissioner and Chief Administrative Law Judge of the NYC Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH). OATH, an independent City agency, oversees the operations of four different administrative tribunals, including the Environmental Control Board (ECB), the Health Tribunal, the Taxi and Limousine Tribunal and the OATH Tribunal, which is responsible for holding disciplinary hearings relating to the City’s 325,000 civil service workforce. As a whole, the agency has 13 different hearing locations across the five boroughs and is responsible for holding approximately 300,000 hearings each year. Commissioner Del Valle is a recognized leader in NYC government having held senior positions at the Probation Department, the NYPD and Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) where he served several roles including as Chairman of the TLC from 1991-1995. Before being appointed Commission of OATH, Commissioner Del Valle was an attorney in private practice and President of the Board of Directors of Catholic Charities Neighborhood Services of Brooklyn and Queens. He graduated from Fordham University and earned his law degree (J.D.) from NYU Law School.
