Christy V. La Pierre is currently the Assistant General Counsel at Pebble Technology Corp.  Pebble is one of the world’s most successful independent smartwatch companies, having launched two record-breaking Kickstarter campaigns and selling well over one million watches globally.  Ms. La Pierre leads Pebble’s global and regulatory compliance teams and privacy and security teams, and assists with issues relating to intellectual property and brand management.   

Prior to joining Pebble, Ms. La Pierre was an IP litigator at K&L Gates where she advised clients on issues associated with patent, trademark and copyright infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract and unfair competition.  Ms. La Pierre has extensive involvement with a variety of technologies, including software, operating systems, wireless communication devices, digital camera design, memory controller architecture, and semiconductor processes and circuits.  Ms. La Pierre has represented clients in Federal courts throughout the United States and has represented clients in patent cases before the International Trade Commission in Washington, DC.

Educational Background

Prior to joining K&L Gates, Ms. La Pierre was an honors graduate in both American Studies and Sociology at Stanford University. While at Stanford, Ms. La Pierre was a member and two-year captain of the women’s varsity soccer team and received NCAA Pacific-Ten honors for both athletic and academic achievement. In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Ms. La Pierre received the Outstanding Student Award for the Class of 2002.

Following Stanford, Ms. La Pierre attended the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law where she obtained a specialization in international legal studies, attended McGeorge’s Austrian Summer Program at the University of Salzburg studying under Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy, and was one of only 15 American students, selected from a national pool, chosen to attend the China-US Summer Law Institute at the Kenneth Wang School of Law in Suzhou, China. While at McGeorge, Ms. La Pierre was also recognized by the International Advocacy Program for her outstanding achievement in both oral advocacy and the drafting of legal memoranda.
