Christopher W. Payne, Esq., is a partner in the Denver office of Ballard Spahr LLP, and chairs the firm's Resort, Hospitality and Timeshare Law Group. Chris represents clients in all phases of real estate development, construction and financing transactions, with an emphasis on resort, hotel and mixed-use projects, and is a frequent speaker and author on these topics. He currently represents clients in the development of hotel and residential resort projects, including golf, spa, and other amenities, throughout the Rocky Mountain region and in Mexico. Chris earned an M.A. degree in Urban Planning and Architecture from UCLA and his J.D. degree from the University of Denver. He also served as law clerk to the Honorable Wade Brorby of the United States Court of Appeals, Tenth Circuit, in Cheyenne, Wyoming before starting private practice. He is a member and past Chair of the Colorado Bar Association.
