Christopher R. Pyke

Dr. Chris Pyke is the Director of Research for the US Green Building Council. USGBC’s Research Program strives to advance the understanding and practice of green building through applied research and innovation. Dr. Pyke is an environmental scientist with extensive experience working at the intersection between climate change, land use, and sustainable design. He also directs a diverse research portfolio that includes work on energy performance analysis, business strategies, and rating system design and evaluation. Dr. Pyke is currently serves in a number of volunteer and advisory roles, including as Vice-Chair of the Chesapeake Bay Program’s Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee and a Fellow with the Virginia Institute of Marine Science’s Center for Coastal Resources Management. Prior to joining USGBC, Dr. Pyke served as a research scientist with the US EPA’s Office of Research and Development and a David H. Smith postdoctoral applied conservation research fellow in residence at the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis. Dr. Pyke received a B.S. from the College of William and Mary and a M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
