Chris is the founder of Moreno Intellectual Property Law LLC as well as Chief Counsel – Intellectual Property for Fulcrum Global Technologies Inc.

Chris has significant experience counseling a broad array of technology companies covering a wide variety of technically complex subject matter areas, including: automated medication delivery systems, biometric security, computer communication protocols, computer printers, database anonymization, document management systems, diesel engine braking systems, enterprise management software, fiber optic cable connectors, fluorescent microscopy systems, ink cartridge refilling systems, light therapy sunglasses, natural language document processing, re-sealable bags, semiconductor structures and processing, social media analysis systems, telecommunications systems and equipment, video/graphic processing and voice encoding/recognition systems.  Chris has prepared and prosecuted hundreds of domestic and foreign patent applications.  He also regularly advises clients on all aspects of intellectual property portfolio development and assertions, including the preparation of patent infringement and validity studies. He has successfully resolved foreign oppositions and appealed adverse decisions by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences (now the Patent Trial and Appeal Board) and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

In his law career, prior to starting Moreno IP Law, Chris was a partner at general practice firm Vedder Price, worked as an associate at boutique law firm Banner & Witcoff and as in-house counsel for a medical device startup company.  Prior to that, Chris worked at Motorola as a patent agent in the Law Department and as an electrical engineer specializing in digital signal processing.

Chris has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Illinois Institute of Technology, respectively, and is a night-school graduate of the John Marshall Law School.  Chris was named one of the “2010 Top 100 Influentials” by HispanicBusiness magazine and was also selected by his peers for inclusion in Illinois Rising Stars 2008 and 2009 editions. 

Most importantly, Chris has been married for over 22 years and is the father of four children.
