Christopher Jaap serves as Associate General Counsel and Assistant Secretary for SunPower Corporation, which designs, manufactures and delivers the highest efficiency, highest reliability solar panels and systems available today. Chris has more than 13 years of legal experience, principally in corporate, securities, finance, and energy matters. He currently advises SunPower's board of directors and executive management team on governance, securities, finance, commercial transactions, employment, executive compensation, compliance, strategic relationships, joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions, and investor relations. Prior to SunPower, Chris advised on energy, commercial, litigation, and securities matters at Calpine Corporation, and on restructuring matters during Calpine's consolidated Chapter 11 case, which was one of the top 10 largest corporate bankruptcies in U.S. history at the time. Chris also counseled private and publicly-traded companies in Silicon Valley as an attorney with Latham & Watkins LLP. He began his legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable Leslie Tchaikovsky at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Northern District of California. 

Chris also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for Fort Mason Center, a dynamic waterfront destination for thought-provoking programs, events, and organizations, and that supports and reflects the evolving cultural fabric of the San Francisco Bay Area.  Fort Mason Center is a partner of the National Park Service Chris holds a J.D. from Boston College Law School and a B.A. in history from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University, where he graduated summa cum laude and was named its Outstanding Graduate.
