Christopher D. Mickus

Christopher represents the firm's clients in litigation, arbitration and other forms of dispute resolution in connection with complex commercial cases. He is a trial lawyer and counselor. Before matters become the subject of litigation, he provides strategic advice and counseling to clients regarding potential disputes, options and alternatives. Christopher represents the firm's clients in cases involving claims of professional negligence, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, trade secret violations, copyright infringement, license-related disputes and other business torts. Christopher also has extensive experience with insurance-related issues and represents insurers and reinsurers regarding diverse, contested claims arising under general liability and professional liability insurance policies at both the primary and excess level, as well as reinsurance contracts.

Christopher has represented clients in multi-million dollar disputes in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second, Third and Seventh Circuits, and numerous State trial and appellate courts.

Representative Engagements:
- Representing a reinsurer in connection with the redomestication of Electric Mutual Liability Insurance Company from the United States to Bermuda and the impact of that redomestication on the recovery of hundreds of millions of dollars under reinsurance contracts. 
- Represented the client in a multi-million dollar arbitration in connection with the collapse of the split capital investment trust sector in the United Kingdom and the resulting investigation by the Financial Services Authority. 
- Represented a Fortune 500 company in litigation in the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas.
- Represented a technology company in trade secret litigation involving concurrent litigation in Canada.
- Representing licensor in resolution of disputes with and termination proceedings against licensees.
- Representing a reinsurer related to a $1 billion underlying settlement and resulting cession to reinsurance pool in connection with the underlying pre-packaged bankruptcy of an asbestos manufacturer.
- Represented the client with regard to the scope of advertising injury coverage for a $30 million underlying verdict arising from the alleged misappropriation and use of concepts in a famous national advertising campaign.
Pro Bono:
- Christopher has an active pro bono practice which includes the representation of One Heartland, Inc. and Herbert G. Birch Services, Inc., non-profit organizations serving families and individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
- Christopher presently serves on the Board of Directors of One Heartland, Inc.

- Christopher is licensed to practice in the State of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second and Third Circuits.
