Christopher B. Harwood joined the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York in January 2011, in October of 2014, became the Deputy Chief of the Office’s Civil Frauds Unit, and in August 2016, became Co-Chief of the Civil Frauds Unit.  Since joining the Office, Mr. Harwood has focused his practice on affirmative fraud work, and has successfully pursued claims against numerous financial institutions, healthcare providers, and other recipients of federal funds.  Prior to joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, Mr. Harwood was an Assistant U.S. Attorney at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, as well as an associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP.  Mr. Harwood also served as a law clerk for the Hon. Norman H. Stahl of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and the Hon. Joseph L. Tauro of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
