Chauntis T. Jenkins is a partner at Porteous, Hainkel & Johnson, LLP and practices in the firm's New Orleans office. Since joining Porteous in 2001, she has developed an extensive litigation practice in the areas of insurance litigation, with an emphasis in coverage disputes, bad faith, first party, third party, special investigation claims, and hurricane related claims involving automobile, homeowner and commercial insurance policies and general corporate/business litigation in state and federal court. She is a former law clerk to the Honorable Lloyd J. Medley of Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans.

She is a native New Orleanian. She received her undergraduate degree from Loyola University New Orleans. She is a graduate of Southern University Law Center. During her tenure at Southern, she served as an Editor of SULC Law Review, President of the Women in Law Society, Vice-President of the Student Bar Association and a teaching assistant for the subjects of Torts and Legal Writing.

On a national level, Ms. Jenkins is currently a fellow in the ABA Section of Litigation Young Lawyer Leadership Program (YLLP). In 2008-09, she served as Chair of the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) Automobile Law Committee and was a scholar in the 2006 inaugural class of the ABA (TIPS) Leadership Academy. She is the immediate past Assembly Speaker for the Young Lawyers Division (ABA YLD), 2008-09. As Assembly Speaker, she presided over the YLD Assembly at the 2009 Mid Year and Annual ABA meeting. The YLD assembly is the policy making body of the division, consisting of over 300 lawyers. She has also served as a YLD Committee Director, Diversity Director and Minorities in the Profession Chair and as a member of the YLD Leadership Advisory Board. 

Ms. Jenkins is a recipient of the 2011 Distinguished Alumni Award from Southern University Law Center. In 2010, she received the Louisiana State Bar Association President's Award for her exemplary work as Chair of the Diversity Conclave. She has served as Chair of the LSBA Diversity Conclave for the past three (3) years (2009-2011). She is a past Chair of the Young Lawyers Section of the New Orleans Bar Association and NOBA Minorities in the Profession Committee. She serves as a Louisiana delegate in the ABA House of Delegates.  She remains an active member of the Louisiana Bar Association, New Orleans Bar Association, the Greater New Orleans Louis A. Martinet Society and Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel (LADC). Additionally, Ms. Jenkins participates as a speaker in a host of ABA and local bar continuing legal education (CLE) programs regarding substantive legal and professional development issues.
