Carrie Freed is Assistant General Counsel, Litigation & Investigations for PMI Global Services Inc., a service entity that provides legal services to Philip Morris International Inc. and its affiliates (PMI).  She manages product liability litigation and other cases of company-wide significance for PMI concentrating primarily on litigation in Latin America and Canada.  Freed is also responsible for conducting internal investigations relating to governmental-inquiries.

Freed is a member of the Women’s Group Steering Committee for the Association of Corporate Counsel-New York City. She is the former chairperson of New Visions, New Venture, a Virginia-based non-profit organization that provided education, training, and financial loans to women-owned small businesses.  

Prior to joining PMI, Freed was with Hunton & Williams LLP (2005-2011).  She clerked on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia for Judge Orinda D. Evans (2003) and on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit for Chief Judge Roger L. Gregory (2004).  She is a member of the bars of Alabama, New York, and Virginia.

Freed graduated magna cum laude from Washington & Lee School of Law in 2003, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Washington & Lee Law Review. She received her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, in Politics and Journalism from Wake Forest University in 1998.
