Jim Levin is a partner in Winston & Strawn LLP’s Los Angeles office whose practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, and other corporate transactions. He also advises boards of directors on corporate governance matters.

Mr. Levin’s merger and acquisition clients include many Fortune 500 companies and other large public and private companies. He has significant knowledge on tender offers, leveraged buyouts, negotiated acquisitions, antitakeover measures, and proxy contests. Mr. Levin has represented major investment banking firms in their role as advisers in acquisitions and contests for control. In addition, he has advised issuers on foreign and domestic securities offerings.

He received a B.A. in 1976 from DePauw University and a J.D., cum laude, in 1981 from Northwestern University, where he was a member of the Northwestern Law Review. Mr. Levin received a Master’s in Management in 1981 from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

Honors & Awards

Mr. Levin has been recognized as a Southern California Super Lawyer from 2008-2011. He was also listed in the 2012, 2015, and 2016 editions of The Best Lawyers in America.

Publications & Speaking Engagements

Mr. Levin regularly speaks about the legal issues affecting his practice, including recent lectures on the indemnification of directors and officers under Delaware and California law.
