Bruce S. Meyer is a Litigation partner at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP and has been at the firm since 1986. Mr. Meyer has specialized in complex commercial litigations and arbitrations for a wide variety of clients including The Walt Disney Co., ESPN, ABC, Procter & Gamble, Gillette, Westinghouse, Swiss Re, CBS, GlaxoSmithKline, Prudential, Vivendi Universal, XM Satellite Radio, eBay and the National Football League Players Association. He has been recognized as a Super Lawyer, in The Legal 500 and by Best Lawyers in America.

Mr. Meyer has extensive jury trial experience, having tried lengthy and complex cases to juries in locales across the country, including New York, Pittsburgh, Minneapolis, Western Massachusetts, Boston, and Texas. His trial experience also includes numerous arbitrations (including private, ICC, AAA and reinsurance arbitrations), preliminary injunction hearings, bench trials and bankruptcy confirmation hearings.

Mr. Meyer has a long and impressive history of litigation wins. Among other notable victories, Mr. Meyer: successfully defended Westinghouse in a major products liability action, resulting in a defendant's jury verdict after a three-month trial; struck down the NFL's free agency restrictions after a three-month antitrust jury trial; prevailed in a complex six week reinsurance arbitration for Life Re; achieved a complete defense verdict for Procter & Gamble after a three-week jury trial; and achieved a complete defense verdict in a $70 million preference action against Prudential. Recently, he obtained punitive damages after trial in a trade secret case, obtained a mandatory preliminary injunction for Vivendi in a high-profile case involving the launch of a major music television channel, obtained summary judgment for GlaxoSmithKline dismissing all claims in a suit alleging trademark, false advertising and trade secret violations, won bench trials for eBay and XM Satellite Radio, and prevailed in arbitrations for Rolls Royce and for PAI Partners, a leading French private equity firm.

In addition to general complex commercial litigation, areas of specialty include intellectual property, media, Internet, product liability, sports and false advertising law. In the false advertising area, Mr. Meyer has successfully represented and counseled clients including GlaxoSmithKline, Procter & Gamble, Gillette, Sanofi-Aventis and Bristol-Myers on a wide variety of advertising issues, including litigations, network challenges and proceedings before the NAD. In the intellectual property area, Mr. Meyer has successfully handled cases for clients such as The Walt Disney Company, GlaxoSmithKline, eBay, XM Satellite Radio and the National Football League Players Association, involving copyrights, trademarks, rights of publicity and trade secrets.

Mr. Meyer has been an adjunct professor of law at Fordham University School of Law and St. John's University School of Law. He has spoken on commercial litigation, intellectual property, advertising, sports and product liability issues at numerous conferences and seminars and at a number of law schools including Yale, Columbia, Marquette, Villanova, Fordham and Boston University. He is the co-author of the three-volume treatise International Sports Law and Business.

Mr. Meyer received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and his J.D., from Boston University School of Law, where he was a member of the Boston University Law Review.
