Brett York serves as the chief attorney advisor to the Assistant Secretary on federal income tax matters regarding corporations and their shareholders, including under the consolidated return regulations.  Prior to November 2015, he served as an attorney advisor in the Office of International Tax Counsel and advised on a number of international tax issues.

Mr. York was a tax counsel at General Electric Company from 2007 to 2012, where he worked on a variety of domestic and international transactions.

Between 2001 and 2007, Mr. York was a tax associate at Shearman & Sterling LLP where he advised on a number of corporate tax, international tax and financial products issues. He earned his J.D. from University of Pennsylvania Law School, and a B.A. in Statistics and Mathematics from the University of Chicago.
