Brandon L. Van Grack

Brandon L. Van Grack serves as Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General for National Security at the U.S. Department of Justice.  As Counsel, Mr. Van Grack provides strategic legal advice to Department of Justice leadership on export control matters, economic espionage, and cyber threats that implicate national security. Prior to his work as Counsel, Mr. Van Grack was a Trial Attorney in the Counterespionage Section of the National Security Division where he supervised investigations and prosecutions of export control violations including cases involving multinational corporations.  He has prosecuted violations of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, Arms Export Control Act, Trading with the Enemy Act and regulations administered by the U.S. Departments of Commerce, State and Treasury.  Mr. Van Grack has also taught and lectured U.S. and foreign law enforcement agents and prosecutors at export and trade courses.  

Before joining the Department of Justice, Mr. Van Grack was a trial attorney at Baker Botts LLP, specializing in white collar criminal defense and complex corporate litigation. 

Mr. Van Grack received his undergraduate degree from Duke University and his J.D from Harvard Law School.
