Bayo Odubeko is a Corporate Finance lawyer based in London. Bayo specialises in both domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures, fundraisings, IPOs and group reorganisations. He has acted for both public and private companies. Bayo has advised extensively in the emerging markets with a particular focus on Africa. Bayo has advised across different sectors including in oil and gas, energy, financial services, telecoms and FMCG sectors.

Bayo has advised many of the leading Africa focused private equity firms investing into Africa, including Helios Investment Partners LLP, Development Partners International, AfricInvest Capital Partners - Tuninvest and Kingdom Zephyr Africa Management Company. He has advised on Helios Investment Partners’ the US$170 million acquisition of a 24.9 per cent interest in listed Kenyan microfinance bank, Equity Bank Limited and the US$145 million acquisition of Southern African outdoor media business, INM Outdoors (renamed Continental Outdoors). He has advised Development Partners International on an investment in a Nigerian/Pan-African oil and gas services company, AfricInvest Capital Partners (together with co-investors FMO and Norfund) on an investment in leading Kenyan microfinance bank, Family Bank Limited and Masawara Plc on the acquisition of the Zimbabwean downstream petroleum business and assets of The Shell Petroleum Company and BP.

Bayo has advised on placings and IPOs of both domestic and international companies. He has advised on the listings of Granada Plc and ITV Plc. Bayo has also advised on emerging market IPOs and placings including the AIM listings of Vietnam Property Fund, Masawara plc, a Zimbabwe focused investment company and Africa Opportunities Fund Limited, a Pan-African focused investment company.

Bayo is a national of both the United Kingdom and Nigeria and is dual qualified, having been called to the Nigerian Bar in 1996 and qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2000.
