Barnabas Reynolds is head of the global Financial Institutions Advisory & Financial Regulatory Group and serves on the firm’s nine-member Policy Committee.  He advises the full range of market participants on their businesses in the London and European markets.  His practice focuses on global legal risk management, including in the context of cross-border legal, regulatory and insolvency regimes. Legal directories, such as Chambers, Legal 500 and IFLR have for several years ranked Mr. Reynolds as a leader in his field.

Mr. Reynolds has been actively involved in helping to shape, analyze and comment upon the global regulatory reforms that arose out of the recent financial crisis.  He often serves as a panelist in
reform-focused events held by institutions such as the Financial Times, Quadrilateral and Chatham House.  Mr. Reynolds has written on and is quoted in several publication regarding financial regulatory reform issues.  Barney has recently advised:

  • Citi on its acquisition of ING’s Custody and Securities Services Business in 7 countries across Central and Eastern Europe
  • Financial institutions on regulatory reform issues, such as recovery and resolution, bank structure and derivatives, and the post-Lehman, post-Madoff, post-MF Global environment
  • ICE Inc. on the European regulatory aspects of its $10.2 billion acquisition of NYSE Euronext
  • The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) on setting up of a new subsidiary, DTCC Derivatives Repository Ltd, a new global repository for OTC derivatives based in Europe
  • U.A.E. government on reforming its financial regulatory framework and drafting underlying legislation
