As a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese, Arthur Yuan focuses his practice on advising clients on Chinese intellectual property matters, including patent and trademark, and general business practices in China and Taiwan for international corporations. At the same time, he has advised Chinese and Taiwanese clients on U.S. IP laws matters. With his background in computer science, he also advises clients on US patent preparation and prosecution of technologies relating to electronics, computer systems, software systems, media processing, telecommunication systems, search engines, database structures, operating systems, business management applications, data security and electronic medical devices, mobile devices, online social networks, web mash-up programming, and business methods. His litigation experiences helped a Taiwan-based corporation in the US to receive a favorable settlement after defending the client’s patent in an ex parte reexamination proceeding. He has also assisted the client avoiding an alleged trademark litigation brought by a Fortune 200 corporation.
