Victim Specialist Laura Riso began her career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in October 1998 and is currently assigned to the Crimes Against Children Squad in the FBI New York Office. Mrs. Riso coordinates with local, state, and federal law enforcement and non-governmental organizations to provide direct services to federal crime victims in cases investigated by the FBI. Every day, Mrs. Riso works one-on-one with adult and minor victims in a wide variety of cases, with violent crimes against children as the top priority. She regularly participates in Project Safe Childhood, the New York City Anti-Trafficking Task Force, and the Westchester County Anti-Trafficking Task Force, developing and enhancing best practices for working with victims of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) and domestic and international human trafficking. Mrs. Riso has lectured on Crimes Against Children issues for the New York City Police Department, NY State Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, the New York City Administration for Children’s Services, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), physicians, social workers, psychologists, attorneys, and probation officers. Victim Specialist Laura Riso earned her BA in Psychology from New York University and her MA in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
