Arden J. Olson

Mr. Olson is a shareholder in Harrang Long Gary Rudnick P.C., with offices in Eugene, Salem, and Portland, Oregon, handling health care, insurance, legal ethics and discipline, and complex litigation matters. 

He is currently a member of the American Bar Association Standing Committee on Professionalism, of the ABA Center for Professional Responsibility, and of the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers.  He sat on the ABA Standing Committee on Ethics & Professional Responsibility, on the Oregon State Bar Legal Ethics Committee, which he chaired during 2002, and on the OSB Special Task Force on the Model Rules, which proposed the changes to Oregon’s Code of Professional Responsibility adopted in substantial part as the Oregon Rules of Professional Conduct effective January 1, 2005.  He has served on the council of the ABA Section of Litigation and on the Board and Executive Committee of the American Judicature Society, in addition to other positions in the ABA.  During his work in the ABA Young Lawyers Division, he was responsible for that body’s review of each of the proposed ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct, and testified before the Kutak Commission that drafted the Model Rules.

Mr. Olson is an active member of the Oregon, California and Washington State bars, of the American Health Lawyers Association, and of the American and Federal Bar Associations. He is admitted to the Supreme Court of the United States, to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third and Ninth Circuits, and to the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Washington, the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and the District of Oregon.  He graduated from the University of Washington School of Law, Order of the Coif, served as Executive Editor of the Washington Law Review, and holds a BA in Philosophy, summa cum laude, from Pacific Lutheran University
