Anthony F. Fata helps clients navigate complex securities, commodities, antitrust and corporate governance matters. A litigator in courts and regulatory forums throughout the country, he also counsels clients through internal investigations and regulatory responses. A partner in the Chicago office of Cafferty Clobes Meriwether & Sprengel LLP, Anthony entered private practice defending securities enforcement matters and class actions with McDermott Will & Emery LLP, where he was selected to serve on the firm’s Professional Responsibility Committee.

A devotee of the law, Anthony serves as an Adjunct Professor for the Seton Hall University School of Law, online learning division, where he teaches attorneys and compliance professionals obtaining Legum Magister (LL.M.) and Masters of Science in Jurisprudence (MSJ) degrees. His courses in the Financial Services concentration include Securities Regulation, Corporate Governance and Corporate Finance.

Actively involved in the Chicago legal community, Anthony serves on the Editorial Board of the Chicago Bar Association’s CBA Record. He also serves in the Investigation Division of the Chicago Bar Association Judicial Evaluation Committee.

Anthony is a frequent publisher and presenter on internal investigations, whistleblowers and complex litigation. In the last few years, his publications have included The Blockchain Bandwagon—Cryptocurrency on the Move: Marketplace Overview and Regulatory Developments, CBA Record (Jan. 2018); The New Mandatory Initial Discovery Pilot Project—Leading the Future of Litigation in the Federal Courts CBA Record (Nov. 2017, co-authored with Jennifer Sprengel); Corporate Cons in the 21st Century: Dealing with the Global Employee Fraud Epidemic, PLI (Apr. 2017, co-authored with Corey Martens); The Problem of the Inside Job—Mitigating, Detecting and Dealing with Employee Fraud (Jan. 2017, co-authored with Corey Martens); The Investigation is Internal, But is This Document Privileged, PLI Handbook (Apr. 2016).

Anthony earned his B.A. from Miami University, where he was selected to serve on the Miami University Student Foundation. He earned his J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where he graduated with honors, was elected to the Order of the Coif, received the Excellence for the Future Award, was recognized as a Public Service Fellow and was selected to serve as a Managing Editor for the Journal on Dispute Resolution, among other honors.
