Anne M. Kelley is Associate General Counsel in Microsoft Corporation’s Legal & Corporate Affairs (LCA) Department for the Worldwide Sales Group, a 350-person organization with legal and business professionals located in forty-four countries. Ms. Kelley serves as chief of staff to the group’s Corporate Vice President responsible for legal and corporate affairs support to Microsoft’s sales and marketing groups around the world. Ms. Kelley previously served as General Manager for Microsoft’s patent and technology licensing business. Prior to working in IP licensing, Ms. Kelley focused on software license compliance and antipiracy enforcement in the United States. Prior to joining Microsoft, Ms. Kelley worked as a litigator at Arter & Hadden in Los Angeles, California from 1987 to 1994. Her primary areas of concentration there were antipiracy litigation on behalf of Microsoft and others, and civil prosecution of savings and loan fraud on behalf of U.S. government banking agencies. Ms. Kelley graduated with a B.A. in English Literature from the University of California at Berkeley in 1981. After college, Ms. Kelley worked in Republican politics and in 1984, Ms. Kelley ran a congressional campaign in Southern California. She obtained her law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of Law in 1987, where she served as executive editor of the Hastings International & Comparative Law Review.
