Andrea Montanari

UBS

Zurich, , CHE

Andrea Montanari heads the covered bond structuring activities within UBS. In this capacity, he has structured a number of new covered bond programs in Sweden, Norway, the United Kingdom, and Italy. Remarkably, Mr. Montanari arranged the debut covered bond program for Banca Popolare di Milano in 2008, the very first Italian covered bond ever issued under the new Obbligazioni Bancarie Garantite framework.

Mr. Montanari joined UBS from Fitch Ratings, where he worked as lead analyst for, among others, U.K. covered bonds, Irish asset covered securities as well as Dutch structured covered bonds programs. Mr. Montanari was also extensively involved in the legal and rating analyses of the Italian, Portuguese, Swedish, and Turkish covered bonds frameworks and acted as lead analyst for the inaugural covered bond issuance by Italy’s Cassa Depositi e Prestiti in 2005 (this program was structured outside of the Italian general Covered Bond Law) as well as for the pioneering U.S. covered bonds program launched by Washington Mutual in 2006. During his tenure at Fitch, he was at the forefront of the development of the agency’s new covered bonds rating methodology and built the agency’s covered bond cashflow model. Mr. Montanari holds a BA from Bocconi University in Milan and an MBA from SDA, Bocconi School of Management.
