Amanda M. Raines is a Counsel in the Washington, DC office of BuckleySandler LLP. Ms. Raines represents financial services industry clients in federal and state enforcement agency investigations and litigation, as well as in private civil and class action litigation. She has represented clients in investigations by the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the FDIC, and state attorneys general, as well as in private class action litigation concerning a variety of issues, including securities fraud, tax fraud, the Fair Housing Act, the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, the Civil Rights Act, and unfair and deceptive trade practices statutes.
Ms. Raines’ recent representations include the following: 

  • Confidential representation of major mortgage servicers regarding mortgage servicing and foreclosure practices
  • Conducting risk assessments of major mortgage servicers’ practices pursuant to FDIC and Federal Reserve Consent Orders
  • Reviewing and assessing loan repurchase demands on behalf of mortgage originators, performing risk assessments of loan portfolios, and handling loan-repurchase litigation
  • Defending class action lawsuits alleging discrimination in loan pricing by mortgage originators
  • Defending class action lawsuits alleging violation of credit services organization statutes
Ms. Raines currently is the chair of the Women Litigator’s Committee of the DC Bar.
Prior to joining BuckleySandler, Ms. Raines was an associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom, LLP.
Ms. Raines received her J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law (magna cum laude, Order of the Coif) in 2003, where she was the managing editor of the Case Western Law Review. She received a B.A. from Rhodes College in 2000.
