Allison Lurton

Allison Lurton is of counsel in the Washington, DC office and practices in the firm's energy industry and white collar groups with a focus on advising clients on the financial regulation reforms to be implemented and enforced by the CFTC as a result of the recently passed Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. Most recently, Ms. Lurton was senior counsel at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). During her seven years at the CFTC, Ms. Lurton gained extensive experience in both the regulation and enforcement of energy and other derivative markets. As Senior Counsel to Commissioner Scott Oa£á.Malia, and previously counsel to Chairman Gensler and Acting Chairmen Lukken and Dunn, she was significantly involved in a wide range of CFTC policy and regulatory matters, including the CFTCa£á.s activities related to the financial reform legislation. From 2003-2007, Ms. Lurton served as a Trial Attorney, rising to Chief Trial Attorney for the CFTCa£á.s Division of Enforcement and handled a range of matters involving the energy industry. Ms. Lurton is a member of the Virginia Bar. She is currently not admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, but is supervised by principals of the firm.
