Alexis Lorenzo is a Senior Staff Attorney with the Foreclosure Prevention Unit at Legal Services NYC-Bronx.  Ms. Lorenzo is a 2002 graduate of Howard Law School where she was an editor of The Howard Law Journal and a Dean’s Fellow.  Following graduation Ms. Lorenzo served for two years as a law clerk to the Honorable James T. Giles, United States District Court Judge of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. 

Thereafter, Ms. Lorenzo joined the law firm of Simpson Thacher and Bartlett in 2004 as an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department.  For five years Ms. Lorenzo worked for Simpson Thacher representing clients in areas such as antitrust litigation, securities and mergers litigation, and insurance coverage disputes. 

In October 2010, Ms. Lorenzo joined Legal Services NYC-Bronx, the largest foreclosure prevention provider in the borough of the Bronx.  In her practice, Ms. Lorenzo represents individual homeowners in predatory lending actions against mortgage brokerage companies and lenders and defends distressed borrowers against banks and mortgage servicing companies seeking to foreclose on their homes.

Ms. Lorenzo regularly conducts community outreach throughout the Borough of the Bronx in cooperation with New York City Elected Officials and has testified on behalf of Legal Services NYC in hearings before the New York City Council on the subject of the continued foreclosure crisis in the State of New York.
