Alan E. Untereiner is an appellate litigator with substantial experience in the areas of product liability, criminal and constitutional law, complex litigation, and Supreme Court practice. He is a founding partner of Robbins, Russell, Englert, Orseck, Untereiner & Sauber LLP, a litigation boutique based in Washington, D.C. Before starting his own firm in 2001, Mr. Untereiner worked for a decade as a partner and associate in the appellate group of Mayer, Brown & Platt. He has spoken and written extensively on preemption law, has represented parties and business amici in many important preemption cases, and is the author of The Preemption Defense in  Tort Actions: Law, Strategy, and Practice (2008). He received his A.B. from Harvard College and his J.D. from Yale Law School.
