Mr. Kaplan joined Barclays in September 2000.  Since joining Barclays, he has covered a broad range of activities and businesses of Barclays in the US, with a focus on investment banking, lending, debt capital markets and prime brokerage.    His current responsibilities include bank and broker-dealer regulation, litigation management, principal investments, restructuring, commercial matters and operations.   Mr. Kaplan coordinates the Dodd-Frank advocacy and implementation work of Barclays’ Legal Department.

Prior to joining Barclays, Mr. Kaplan spent over six years at Bankers Trust Company / Deutsche Bank AG where he held the position of Managing Director and Counsel.  At Bankers Trust Company / Deutsche Bank AG, he was advisor to a number of business lines with primary responsibility for Latin American corporate finance, private equity, trading, sales and derivatives.  Prior to that, Mr. Kaplan served as an Associate at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy in both their New York and London offices.

He received his AB from Brown University and his JD from Harvard Law School. He was admitted to the New York Bar in 1984.
