San Francisco, CA, USA

Adhemir received his law degree, Juris Doctor, from UC Hastings, College of the Law and is a member of the California Bar.  He also received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Economics from Columbia University in 2007.

Adhemir joined Becker & Lee LLP in 2015. He represents clients in removal proceedings and bond hearings before the Immigration Court. Adhemir uses his previous criminal defense experience to represent clients with criminal records facing removal proceedings. In addition to removal defense, he has represented unaccompanied children (UAC) seeking asylum and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), including obtaining SIJS predicate orders in California Superior Court. Adhemir also has experience in family-based immigration, DACA, and representing victims of crimes applying for U visas.

Prior to working at Becker & Lee LLP, Adhemir worked at the Alameda County Public Defender’s Office for nearly two years where he represented indigent clients facing criminal charges. Many of Adhemir’s clients were immigrants who had different types of legal status or none whatsoever. Adhemir saw firsthand the problems that those clients faced and worked diligently to ensure that those clients’ available avenues for relief remained open.

Adhemir has volunteered at Centro Legal de La Raza in Oakland, where he conducted consultations during the organization’s bi-monthly clinics and assisted with the Legal Orientation Program at West County Detention Facility in Richmond, California.

Adhemir is fluent in Spanish and proficient in French.
