Overview
Why You Should Attend
Child care is critical to supporting families and children, and reducing poverty and inequality. What legal tools can we, as attorneys, bring to bear to help low-income families get their children good quality child care? In this session, we will train attorneys in legal strategies to increase access to child care. These include benefit law strategies to help low-income parents get and stay in publicly subsidized child care programs, and land use and landlord-tenant strategies to help licensed family child care providers keep and expand the programs that serve low-income families.
Who Should Attend
Practitioners, paralegals, and other professionals looking to gain a deeper understanding of the child care system in California will benefit from attending this program. Attendees interested in providing pro bono assistance on child care issues are encouraged to attend and will learn tools to get started advocating for families.
