Overview

In the wake of #MeToo and the enormous focus on workplace behaviors that profoundly impact careers, the Women’s Bar Association of Massachusetts, in partnership with the Rikleen Institute for Strategic Leadership, implemented a groundbreaking research project to develop a more nuanced understanding of the law firm environment, and to help law firms provide a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace for all of their employees.  This study offers critical information analyzing the existence and prevalence of behaviors that create work environments that feel unsafe or inhospitable to lawyers, paralegals, support staff, interns, and law students in the legal profession.

Please join Lauren Stiller Rikleen, president of the Rikleen Institute for Strategic Leadership and a former law firm partner, and Meredith Ainbinder, Deputy General Counsel for Emerson College and president of the Women’s Bar Association of Massachusetts, for a conversation addressing:

  • The key findings from the WBA’s survey, analyzing behaviors and conduct in law firms at all levels
  •  What firms must do to increase reporting rates and encourage bystander intervention, to provide a safe reporting environment
  •  Strategies for transforming dated procedures and training practices to meet the needs of today’s workplace
  • Recommendations for providing a safe and inclusive work environment and promote meaningful changes in workplace culture
