The Honorable David R. Dugas is a Member of the law firm of McGlinchey Stafford PLLC and serves as Co-chair of its White Collar Defense and Corporate Investigations practice.
Prior to joining McGlinchey Stafford, Mr. Dugas served from 2001 to 2010 as the United States Attorney for the Middle District of Louisiana. During his tenure as U.S. Attorney he also served as the Director of the National Center for Disaster Fraud (formerly the Hurricane Katrina Task Force’s National Command Center), as Chairman of the Environmental Issues Advisory Subcommittee, as Co-Chair of the Environmental Crimes Policy Committee and as a member of the White Collar Crimes Advisory Subcommittee of the U.S. Department of Justice.

Mr. Dugas has received national recognition for his work as U.S. Attorney. In 2005, he was named U.S. Attorney of the Year by the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association. In 2006, he was awarded the Attorney General’s Medallion for Distinguished Service, the second highest award given to U.S. Attorneys by the Department of Justice. Also in 2006, he received the Distinguished Service Award from the President’s Council on Integrity and Efficiency for his leadership of the Hurricane Katrina Fraud Task Force. In 2004, he was named Federal Prosecutor of the Year by the Louisiana Crime Victims’ Alliance and in 2010 he was awarded the Outstanding Achievement in Prosecution award by the Louisiana Chapter of the FBI Citizens’ Academy Alumni Association.

Mr. Dugas has represented clients in investigations by the U.S. Department of Justice, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission and various other federal and state law enforcement and regulatory agencies. He has lectured and written on numerous topics, including criminal law enforcement, government investigations, corporate compliance, crisis management and disaster fraud prevention.

Mr. Dugas is a 1978 Order of the Coif graduate of LSU Law School where he served as Associate Editor of the Louisiana Law Review, as a member of the LSU Moot Court Board of Student Advisors and as a member of the LSU Law School’s Regional Appellate Advocacy team. He was inducted into the LSU Law School Hall of Fame in 1987. Mr. Dugas received his undergraduate education at the United States Air Force Academy and Louisiana State University
