A patchwork of laws related to same sex relationships in California has developed over the last several years, most recently, the California Supreme Court’s 2008 decision in the Marriage Cases, Proposition 8, upheld by the Court this year, and the recently-enacted Marriage Recognition and Family Protection Act.
