Biography

Evan D. Buxner graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1990 and received his J.D., cum laude, from Saint Louis University in 1993, where he was a staff member on the Saint Louis University Public Law Review. After graduating from law school, Mr. Buxner was employed by one of St. Louis’s most prestigious trial defense law firms and within months obtained his first jury defense verdict. Later, he joined a larger law firm in St. Louis, where he worked on complex commercial litigation and defended complex mass torts for one of the nation’s largest chemical distributors. In 2000, Mr. Buxner left the defense bar to focus solely on representing individuals and small companies in personal injury and class action cases. In doing so, he represented numerous plaintiffs in the Fen-Phen litigation arising out of Pondimin and Redux’s withdrawal from the market after being linked to serious heart disease. Mr. Buxner continues to represent individuals injured by these drugs. Additionally, he represented plaintiffs who ingested the potentially fatal drug Rezulin, a drug that was prescribed to treat adult-onset Type II diabetes, but was withdrawn from the market in 2000 after being associated with numerous cases of liver damage. Mr. Buxner has also successfully represented thousands of injured individuals who took Vioxx, Bextra, Baycol, Zyprexa, and were exposed to asbestos and/or benzene. In addition, he has worked on numerous consumer class actions dealing with defectively designed cellular telephones, predatory lending, allegations of fraud arising out of credit card transactions, and adverse drug reactions.
