PATENT BAR: GET IT DONE THIS SUMMER!
The Patent Office has just started testing some aspects of the America Invents Act. But these changes were relatively minor. At least as compared to the new material they'll likely start testing next fall. So we really recommend that you get it done this coming summer.
Recognizing that most people study during the summer . . . this year especially . . . we've scheduled most of our live courses for the summer. We have a live course about every three weeks all summer long. We've already posted all of our summer courses to the Web . . . New York City in May, Houston AND San Francisco in June, Boston in July, and Chicago in August. That means that you can sign up for them today at www.patentbarreview.com. Note that the Chicago course comes right on the heels of Loyola Chicago's Patent Law Interview Program, so if you're going to Chicago for that, and you feel that you really need a live course, that might be a good option for you to get it done before returning to school, even if you aren't near any of our live locations.
But we're not trying to push a live course. The vast majority of our takers (especially students) are doing the course on a homestudy basis, online, and doing fine with it, as long as they have the discipline and dedication to take it seriously. See our testimonials.

ATTEND A PLI PROGRAM ON SCHOLARSHIP
PLI offers scholarships to students for our live AND archived programs. The cutting-edge, practice-oriented information that leading lights of the legal world share at PLI programs can give you an edge in this tough market by:
- giving you practical insights into the practice areas of most major law firms
- giving you an idea how the best and brightest in the practice think and speak
- showing hiring partners that you are a proactive, inquisitive, self-directed learner
- giving you something timely and thought-provoking to talk about in interviews
and more.
In most cases, you'll only pay a $25 scholarship application fee . . . for programs that attorneys pay up to almost $2,000 for!
If you can, attend a live program for top-notch networking opportunities, on top of all of the cutting-edge substance.
Or watch a Live Webcast. In either case, be sure to get your scholarship application in to us at least one month in advance of the live program you want to attend or watch.
And there's always our archived programs. (The scholarship process can take up to a month, even if you're looking to watch an archived program.)

PLI WELCOMES APPLICATIONS FOR NEW STUDENT REPS
Becoming a PLI student rep can be a great boost for your resume (PLI is well-known and highly regarded by law firms and corporations). And it can be a great way to put yourself out there as a "mover and shaker" at your school, and a great way to be of service to your school and colleagues. Student reps not only help us plan our Patent Bar presentations at your school, but can also help us keep an eye out for other ways PLI can be of service: scholarships to our programs for students and faculty, free IP books for clinics, etc. PLI is happy that students discover early what a great resource we are of knowledge and training for their entire careers. And you can help make that happen.
Aside from the intangible benefits of representing a highly regarded nonprofit institution, networking with your IP professors and fellow IP students, and the like, student reps get money off their Patent Bar Review course price (or other PLI resources) and scholarships to our other programs.
And we try not to be much of a burden. We won't have you sitting at tables for hours, like others do. We trust that you'll know who to talk to and when to talk about us (at the IP student group meetings, to professors, in appropriate classes, etc.). It's more about the quality of your time, than the quantity. To apply, come to our Website and click on the "Apply to become a PLI student rep" link in the right-hand column.
